Valentines Day is a mere 3 days away. Also, it’s a Friday night. Eek, pressure is on, guys. Hey, maybe not! Rather than fight for parking, walking in the cold, waiting in a loud, crowded restaurant, and having mediocre service (and a limited but way more expensive menu than usual)- stay in! You can still have a unique, fun and romantic Valentines day in the comfort of your own home. Just change it up a bit with some of these fun ideas.
1) Sappy love movie marathon
Crack open a bottle of wine and make some popcorn. Maybe even grab your favorite movie theater candy at Target. Dim the lights and have your own private theater.
Ideas: The Notebook, Valentines Day, Twilight, Dear John, The Lucky One
2) Cook Dinner Together
Rather than one person making dinner for the other, make dinner together! Put on some tunes and relax and jam out while trying something new in the kitchen. Plus, avoid the crowds and wait times and save yourself a pretty penny. Light a candle and enjoy each other’s company in your home. You don’t have to make something fancy. How about make your own pizzas?!
We are planning on attempting to make this Parmesan Risotto with Roasted Shrimp!
3) No-Screen Night
Put away your cell phone, iPad, ipod, TV, any other tablet or digital screen you have. No texting, Facebooking, or pinning. For one whole night enjoy each other’s company, conversation in a distraction free environment. Play your favorite board game or cards. This zero-technology can be SO therapeutic. We did this on our honeymoon and I would HIGHLY suggest it.
4) Light the fire- literally
Snuggle up to the fireplace with s’mores and blankets! Maybe even throw in a cup of coffee or cocoa with some Baileys. Talk about the things you never have time to in the busy hustle and bustle of the week.
5) Have a mini “us” love photo session
Just use your camera, tripod and self timer to snap some cute lovey lifestyle shots of you and your sweetie. We all love to pin things like these adorable photos, hey that could be you be you guys! (p.s. that’s Matt & I on the right! 🙂
No significant other this V-day? No worries, I think all of these ideas would be WAY fun with all your closest girlfriends. Likely work in more girl chats, wine & chocolate.
Here is a Pinterest-friendly version to keep these in mind!
Happy Valentines Day everyone! xoxo
