Yes, you read right, I’m ENGAGED!  I’m so excited and happy to share our special story of our engagement.  First of all, let me tell you how hard it is to surprise me.  I am always planning and tend to be very detail-oriented (Type A, thorough, you get the picture).  :)   SO Matt told me after the fact that he knew if he wanted to surprise me, he was going to have to work the proposal into MY plans (smart guy!) :)

So Matt & I had planned on taking our Christmas card photo.  A little background is that we were waiting for snow, but shockingly enough here in Minnesota, there was still none on December 1!  So we had to go for it for the sake of time.  We woke up and went and got a Christmas tree because we were planning on using it as a prop in our picture.  We went to a park near my house and used my camera, tripod, and rapid shutter speed to take our photos like we usually do (self-sufficient :)  ) Matt kept wanting to take pictures with our coats on (which will make sense later in the story), but I kept saying “Nah, no coats yet”.  However, while I was messing with the camera I would put his coat on for warmth then toss it aside…..not knowing at the time what was in the pocket or why Matt wanted to wear it for pictures :)

You can guess what happened next.  Finally we took photos with our coats on and with the camera snapping pictures away, Matt shocked me by reaching in his pocket, pulling out the ring box, and getting down on one knee.  I was stunned!  Even if you think you are ready and will be cool/calm/collected…no way!  My mind literally blacked out like the world stopped turning–there really is no better feeling.  I am SO lucky to have these pictures, it is a moment I will never forget and I love seeing how happy we both are after the proposal!  :)

Enjoy!
(and let the wedding planning begin!)  :)
